Overview
The CSA Mine is located 11 kilometres north-west of Cobar, central western Recent South Wales, Australia. It is Australia’s highest-grade copper mine and operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, directly employing over 500 people including contractors. The mine is one of Australia’s deepest underground operations at 1.9 kilometres deep.
Our Summer Vacation Program is designed to provide you with practical experience and exposure to real-world mining operations. As a participant, you will work on-site at the CSA Mine and contribute to ongoing projects while strengthening your career aspirations. You will be exposed to both day-to-day operations and your own individual projects to immerse you in the mining environment.
We are looking for vacation students to commence in November 2025 in the following disciplines: Geotechnical Engineer, Project Management, Exploration, Geologist, Safety & Training.

Eligibility Criteria
Currently enrolled in a university degree related to the above-mentioned disciplines.
Strong academic performance – a copy of your transcript must be submitted with your application.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Conditions
This position is offered on a 5/2 – 4/3 roster, allowing you time to explore the local region. Your Vacation Program will include social activities and targeted development activities designed to maximise your experience with our site and professionals.
We offer competitive remuneration and, as this is a residential position, CSA Mine will pay for flights and supply accommodation during your placement. You will require your own transport while in Cobar. CSA also provides pool & gym reimbursements to our employees.
Location: Located eight hours by road from Sydney and nine hours from Melbourne, with a short drive to Dubbo, Cobar is a town rich in mining heritage and natural attractions. The area offers restaurants, pubs, clubs, sports and recreational facilities.

CSA Mine is located in Cobar, Central Western NSW, operated by Cobar Management Pty Ltd (CMPL) – owned by Glencore.
The mine began in 1871 and has a history of ownership changes. Today it focuses on copper mining with a silver co-product, producing over 1.1 million tonnes of copper ore and more than 185,000 tonnes of copper concentrate per annum. The concentrate contains approximately 29% copper metal and is exported to smelters in India, China and Southeast Asia. The mine provides direct employment for over 300 people and holds ~820 km2 of tenements in the local Cobar area.
