The Royal Melbourne Hospital is one of Australia's leading public healthcare providers. Building a career and working in a state‑wide specialist service, you will become part of the Mental Health Forensic Interface Team (MH‑FIT) delivering assessment, treatment and support to individuals referred by the Victorian Fixated Threat Assessment Centre (VFTAC) and forensic clinical specialists.
About the role
Part‑time, fixed‑term position for 2 years (P4 level). Your key responsibilities include:
* Providing secondary consultation to MH‑FIT, RMH Mental Health Services, and external agencies
* Conducting and interpreting SPJ risk assessments (e.g. HCR‑20, SAVRY) and supporting clinicians to apply these tools effectively
* Applying sound clinical judgement to complex forensic and mental health presentations
* Acting as a secondary case manager, with potential for a small clinical caseload
* Delivering person‑centred, evidence‑based treatment and care recommendations
* Demonstrating flexibility in developing and refining the role based on service needs
* Contributing to workforce development alongside the RMH Forensic Clinical Specialist
About you
* Registered Psychologist with Clinical or Forensic endorsement and AHPRA Board‑Approved Supervisor status
* Minimum 8 years' experience in clinical and forensic assessment, treatment, and risk management
* Proficient in structured risk assessment tools (e.g. HCR‑20, SAVRY, LSI‑SV)
* Skilled in providing clinical supervision, consultation, and workforce development
* Strong communication, organisational, and problem‑solving skills
* Current Victorian driver's licence; experience in forensic mental health and a second language are desirable
