Your new role
Join our Recreation team as a Casual Recreation Officer and help individuals throughout the Eastern suburbs stay connected to the activities they love.
In this flexible role, you'll work alongside our Recreation Co‐ordinator to support people in pursuing their interests – whether it's art, sport, music, or community outings. Your work will foster inclusion, dignity, and wellbeing across diverse communities.
Rosters are ad hoc, offering variety and the chance to step in when your support is needed most. If you're driven by equity, empowerment, and human connection, we'd love to hear from you.
Your responsibilities and duties will also include:
* Developing recreation programs, which will assist clients to further develop their everyday living skills to promote independence
* Being involved in regular meetings with case management staff
* Encouraging clients to maintain their community associations and contacts
* Promoting recreational opportunities available within the broader community
* Facilitating activities that promote access to venues, events and recreational opportunities
* Facilitating programs that maintain and enhance client independence
* Maintaining accurate records regarding the range of activities and client participation
* Being aware of relevant legislative standards and guidelines
We are looking for candidates with the following:
* A relevant qualification in Leisure and Lifestyle.
* Experience working with people who are at risk or have experienced homelessness.
* Working reliable vehicle (mandatory)
* An understanding of complex clients with challenging behaviours.
* Well‐developed communications skills and the ability to engage people from varying backgrounds.
* First Aid Certificate.
