Position Overview

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will report to the Manufacturing Engineering Team Leader and is an essential role for a mechanically inclined engineer dedicated to enhancing assembly processes in a high-precision environment. The successful candidate will be instrumental in optimizing workflows, facilitating new product introductions, and executing process improvements that drive cost efficiency and product reliability.

Key Responsibilities

* Design, develop, and optimize mechanical assembly processes for complex CNC machines and subassemblies.
* Troubleshoot production issues and implement rapid problem resolution strategies.
* Maintain and enhance standard operating procedures, assembly instructions, and production documentation.
* Collaborate on assembly line layout and workstation design improvements to enhance efficiency and ergonomics.
* Coordinate with Design Engineering to ensure new products are manufacturable and assembly-ready.
* Lead continuous improvement projects targeting cost reduction, defect reduction, and productivity enhancements.
* Conduct time studies and line balancing to optimize assembly flow and efficiency.
* Implement Lean Manufacturing practices to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
* Promote health, safety, and environmental compliance within assembly operations.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in engineering principles, coupled with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a genuine interest in leadership development. Candidates should be ready to take on challenges in a fast-paced environment.

* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
* 5+ years of experience in an engineering role, demonstrating process improvement and technical leadership.
* Registered as a Professional Engineer in Victoria.
* Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., NX, AutoCAD) and ERP systems.
* Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, including assembly, machining, and automation.
