Position Overview:

As a Youth and Disability Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals with a disability to achieve their personal goals, engage in their communities, and lead fulfilling lives. You will provide compassionate care and practical assistance tailored to each participants unique needs and preferences.

What's on offer?

* Casual & Permanent part-time employment
* Immediate start (pending mandatory NDIS requirements)
* Casual: Ordinary $ $44.39 (inclusive of 25% loading), Saturday shift $ $62.15, Sunday shift $75.17 – $79.91
* Part-time hourly equivalent $ $35.51, Saturday shift $ $53.27, Sunday shift $ $71.03
* Receive sleepover allowance $100 for sleepover shifts
* Not-for-profit salary packaging options to increase take home pay (package up to $15,900 per FBT year)

Key Responsibilities:

* Assist participants with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and medication management.
* Providing care for people who have complex and challenging needs in terms of their behaviour and emotional, psychological, and developmental well-being.
* The ability to effectively and appropriately respond to people who are distressed or agitated and the confidence to work with behaviours of concern.
* Ensure all daily case notes and records relating to shifts are completed after each shift and received by the Service Coordinator.
* Establish an environment that promotes individual decision making and contributes to personal growth and independence.
* Implement individualised care plans and ensure participants safety and well-being.
* Work as part of a team to ensure continuity of support to participants.

Requirements:

* Qualifications: Certificate in Mental Health, Individual Support (Disability) or equivalent qualification desirable.
* Experience in working with clients who are non-verbal and have a mental illness or psychosocial disability (highly desirable)
* Well-developed time management, communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
* Experience in record keeping, preparation of reports and ability to assist in the development of policies and procedures
* Be available for a variety of shifts including morning (early starts 6am), afternoon shifts and sleepovers weekdays and weekends.
* Experience working in a SIL 24/7 environment (highly desirable)
