Overview

WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is seeking experienced Psychiatry Registrars to join the Rural Psychiatry Training WA (RPTWA) program across rural Western Australia.

Position : Psychiatry Registrar – RANZCP Trainee Transfer

Unit/Division : WACHS - Central Office > Mental Health

Location : Various Locations - Albany, Broome, Bunbury, Busselton, Geraldton, Northam, Karratha & Port Hedland

Work Type : Fixed Term - Full Time, Fixed Term - Part Time

Salary : MP Year 1-7 $170,462 to $377,620 p.a. pro rata (inclusive of base salary, applicable allowances and 12% Superannuation)

Contract : Appointments for up to 5 years (dependent on RANZCP training stage), with the possibility of extension.

Recruitment Pool : Open to Full time or Part Time Fixed Term appointments for existing RANZCP Trainees seeking to transfer to the RPTWA program.

Location & Salary Details

Locations : Albany, Broome, Bunbury, Busselton, Geraldton, Northam, Karratha & Port Hedland

Trainee Psychiatrist (Year 1-7) : $170,462.88 to $228,201.12 p.a.*

*Inclusive of base salary $140,819 to $192,371 p.a., professional development $11,380 p.a. and 12% superannuation. Generous accommodation & relocation subsidies also available.

Salary (North of the 26th parallel)

Registrar (Year 1-3): $178,223 to $194,925 p.a.*
*Includes base salary $147,748 to $162,661 p.a., professional development allowance $11,380 p.a. and 12% employer contributed Superannuation. Generous accommodation & relocation subsidies also available.

HSMP (Year 1-6) : $300,622 to $377,620 p.a.*
*Includes base salary $226,833 to $293,564 p.a., professional development allowance $34,696 p.a. and 12% employer contributed Superannuation. Generous accommodation & relocation subsidies also available.

*Appt based on skills and experience.

Position Profile

We are seeking to appoint to the position of Trainee Psychiatrist in various regions across WACHS. The successful applicant will work as an integral part of the multidisciplinary and medical teams. Under the supervision of a Consultant Psychiatrist, this position provides assessment and management for clients requiring specialist psychiatric care. The successful applicant will be committing to a length of training contract (two to five years) with WACHS.

The Rural Psychiatry Training WA (RPTWA) program is overseen by the Western Australia Branch Training Committee, in accordance with the requirements for obtaining Fellowship of the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP). The training program provides clinical and formal supervised training experiences in rural generalist psychiatry, with Stage 3 trainees completing Certificates of Advanced Training considered on a case-by-case basis.

Essential Criteria

- Commitment to a rural post in psychiatry.
- Good interpersonal skills and high-level communications skills.
- Current RANZCP trainee or on approved Break in Training
- The ability to satisfy the Selection Panel of suitable academic record, RANZCP training record and employment history.
- Commitment and eligibility to undertake psychiatry training.

Desirable Criteria

- Clinical competence in both General Medicine and Psychological Medicine.
- Ability to use proficient problem-solving techniques, coping strategies and ability to tolerate and deal effectively with stressful situations.
- "C" Class Driver’s Licence.
- Rural background and/or rural clinical experience
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

- A current copy of your RANZCP Trainee Progression Report
- A copy of the formal (written/clinical) exam feedback from RANZCP for any exams or assessments you have completed.
