With the opening of their current small stock processing plant in Mildura, they are continuing to expand and innovate. To support this growth, they are now seeking a dedicated and skilled Stockperson / Drover to join their team.
About the Role
The Stockperson / Drover plays a vital role in the smooth and efficient operation of the processing plant. You will be responsible for the safe and timely movement of livestock from holding pens through to processing areas, while ensuring all work is carried out in line with strict animal welfare standards and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently move livestock from holding pens to processing areas using low-stress stock handling techniques.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of livestock trucks.
- Monitor livestock condition and welfare, reporting any issues to management.
- Maintain accurate records and support daily data entry.
- Conduct regular checks of yards, pens, fences, and troughs.
- Perform other duties as directed by management.
Requirements
- Own working dogs (essential).
- Previous experience working with sheep and/or goats in the livestock industry.
- Demonstrated low-stress stock handling skills.
- General farm knowledge and practical skills.
- Ability to work confidently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and a team-focused attitude.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends and public holidays.
- Commitment to workplace safety and animal welfare standards.
