This is a 12-month fixed-term opportunity. About the Department The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services. The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres. About the Role You will work closely with business leaders and stakeholders to analyse workforce trends, identify risks and opportunities, and support the development of evidence-based workforce strategies. Key Responsibilities * Analyse and interpret complex workforce datasets to generate actionable insights * Develop dashboards, reports, and visualisations to support business decision-making * Identify trends in workforce metrics such as capability, capacity, attrition, and diversity * Support workforce planning activities through data modelling and forecasting * Translate data into clear, compelling narratives for senior stakeholders * Ensure data integrity, quality, and governance across workforce datasets * Collaborate with HR, finance, and business units to align data insights with organisational priorities About You You are a technically strong and analytically minded professional with a passion for turning data into insight. You bring a structured approach to problem-solving and are comfortable working with large, complex datasets. Essential Skills & Experience: * Proven experience in data analysis, ideally within workforce, HR, or organisational analytics * Advanced technical capability in tools such as SQL, Python, R, Power BI, Tableau, or similar * Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to identify patterns and trends * Experience building dashboards and data visualisations for diverse audiences * High attention to detail and commitment to data quality and accuracy * Ability to communicate complex data insights in a clear and accessible way Desirable: * Experience in workforce planning, people analytics, or public sector environments * Knowledge of workforce metrics, HR systems, or organisational design principles * Experience with predictive analytics or workforce modelling Why Join Us? * Opportunity to shape workforce strategy through data-driven insights * Work in a collaborative and forward-thinking team * Exposure to senior decision-makers and strategic projects Further Information For more details regarding this position please see attached position description for the capabilities to address in application.
