The Team:
The Mersey Community Hospital, Latrobe has 95 beds and offers general and specialist health services including 24 hour emergency department, general medicine, day surgery and endoscopy, rehabilitation, palliative care and day oncology services along with a variety of specialist clinics. Mersey Community Hospital is a dedicated elective surgery centre and provides a mixture of general hospital services. The hospital has close ties with the University of Tasmania through the Rural Clinical School and with TAFE Tasmania thus providing opportunities for comprehensive clinical training programs.

The theatres provide Day Surgery procedures for mainly the North West but attracts clients state-wide. Specialties provided include Dental Surgery, Gynaecology, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, Endoscopy, and ENT. The Operating Theatre staff consists of a Nurse Unit Manager, Clinical Nurse Consultant, Associate Nurse Unit Managers, Registered Nurses (G3-7), Enrolled Nurses, Theatre Attendants, CSD Nurse Manager and team, Hospital Aide and Ward Clerk. An excellent programme of on-the-job training as Scrub nurse, Circulating Nurse, Anaesthetic nurse and PACU nurse is offered and many of our staff obtain post graduate qualifications through the University of Tasmania programs offered in partnership with the THS. Several staff hold post graduate qualifications in Perioperative Services and post-grad studies is encouraged.

The Role:
The Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) of Endoscopy is an experienced nurse who, within the defined area of practice:

* Works in partnership with the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) and other senior staff, to ensure the efficient and effective provision of care based on best practice principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework.
* Assists the NUM with the planning and management of staff and resources and provides operational leadership through the coordination of the day to day patient care activities, including patient flow.

You will need:

* Provide clinical leadership and support to the Endoscopy team, ensuring safe, efficient, and patient‑centred care.
* Coordinate daily workflow and resources within the Endoscopy unit, promoting effective communication and smooth operational flow.
* Drive quality, safety, and continuous improvement, aligning practice with NSQHS Standards and GENCA guidelines.
* Minimum of two years endoscopy experience required.
* Post Graduate qualification highly desirable.

Details of appointment:
Permanent full time, shift worker (not working weekends or public holidays) position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from 11 May 2026.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary:
$109,767 to $115,813 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

* Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

* Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

* Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
