This position sits within the DevOps and Infrastructure function and will play a key role in supporting and maintaining enterprise database platforms, ensuring performance, stability, and reliability across the organisation's systems. Working within an enterprise environment.
Working closely with infrastructure engineers, DevOps specialists, and data professionals, you will contribute to improving database environments, operational processes, and the overall reliability of critical data platforms.
Key responsibilities
* Managing and supporting enterprise SQL database environments to ensure high availability and stability.
* Monitoring database performance and carrying out optimisation and tuning to improve efficiency.
* Collaborating with DevOps and infrastructure teams to support database deployment, automation, and operational processes.
* Managing database backups, recovery processes, and disaster recovery planning.
* Reviewing existing database environments and identifying opportunities for performance, reliability, and scalability improvements.
* Supporting database upgrades, patching, and environment maintenance across development, testing, and production environments.
* Troubleshooting complex database issues and ensuring long-term solutions are implemented.
* Ensuring database environments follow best practices for security, performance, and operational support.
Key skills and experience
* Strong experience administering SQL database environments within enterprise organisations.
* Expertise in database performance tuning, optimisation, and troubleshooting.
* Experience managing backup, recovery, and high availability strategies.
* Understanding of DevOps practices including automation, release processes, and version control.
* Experience supporting database environments across development, testing, and production.
* Strong stakeholder communication skills and ability to work closely with infrastructure and engineering teams.
