It is at the heart of everything we do.

About the Role

As a Research Officer (Nurse) within the FHMRI Eye & Vision Program, you will play a key role in supporting the PROGRESSA glaucoma study through participant recruitment, sample collection, and ophthalmic assessments. Working with broad direction, you will independently manage day‐to‐day research tasks across clinical environments while ensuring accurate data collection and strong patient care. This role also supports emerging research examining cardiovascular risk factors and involves engaging with a large cohort of older Australians.

Responsibilities

* Conduct ophthalmic screening procedures such as visual acuity testing, retinal imaging and visual field assessments (training provided)
* Attend ophthalmic clinics to support participant recruitment and transport biological samples as required
* Accurately enter and maintain detailed research data, and assist with preliminary data analysis under supervision

Through directly contributing to the strategic driver of research that matters, this role supports pioneering ophthalmic research that improves lives and advances Flinders' mission to change 10 million lives for the better.

About You

You bring strong clinical expertise, well‐developed patient care skills and a commitment to high‐quality research. With excellent communication, organisation and data management capabilities, you work confidently both independently and within multidisciplinary teams. Your ability to prioritise, problem‐solve and uphold confidentiality ensures you thrive in a dynamic research environment while supporting meaningful health outcomes.

Qualifications

* A relevant degree and current AHPRA nursing registration, with demonstrated experience in taking blood samples
* Strong patient care skills and the ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with professionalism
* Competence using digital systems for data entry, management and analysis, supported by clear written and verbal communication skills
* Effective organisational skills, including initiative, prioritisation, problem‐solving and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
