While this role is based in our Joinery workshop, we operate as part of a nationwide business, supporting commercial projects across multiple locations. Our joinery team works in a professional, well-equipped workshop alongside experienced tradespeople and machine operators, delivering precise, high-quality outcomes.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Drafter to join our joinery operation in Zillmere. This is a hands on role offering genuine work life balance while remaining closely connected to production and project delivery.
You will take ownership of the full drafting and processing lifecycle, working closely with production teams, project managers, and factory staff to ensure accurate, efficient, and buildable joinery outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Drafting and processing of commercial joinery projects
* Proficient use of MICROVELLUM and AUTOCAD are required
* Full ownership of projects from processing through machining, manufacturing, and final quality control
* Accurate application of construction methods, materials, fixings, and finishes
* Review and revision of BOQs to ensure correct quantities and material types for purchasing
* Ensure drafting is completed within budgeted timeframes
* Work closely with the Production Team to manage projects through the full lifecycle
* Assist with clients' variations where required and on the factory floor, including resolving machine operation and programming issues
* Support and oversee quality control measures within designs and production
* Maintain and continuously improve CAD standards, drafting processes, and documentation
* Ensure joinery designs align with manual handling and WHS requirements
* Participate in pre-start meetings and quality discussions
* Seek opportunities to improve efficiency, profitability, and production flow through intelligent design
* Support sustainable practices and environmental initiatives relating to materials and waste management
* Maintain strong communication across drafting, production, and management teams
* Uphold and enhance the company's professionalism, standards, and customer satisfaction
* Maintain lean manufacturing principles and contribute to continuous improvement
* Expand supplier and industry contacts where appropriate
* Align behaviour with company values and support business goals
* Ability to communicate well & deliver teamwork with a strong ethic
About You
You are a detail-driven professional who enjoys ownership, accountability, and teamwork.
You Will Bring
* Proven experience as a Drafter (commercial joinery essential)
* Strong Microvellum and AutoCAD capability
* Solid understanding of joinery construction and manufacturing processes
* Experience working closely with production and factory environments
* Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining accuracy and quality
* Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach
