Offer description

Six Degrees have partnered with a large organisation specialising in animal care to recruit a Product Developer for their Ryde, NSW location. This is an office-based role with occasional travel to visit suppliers.

If you are an animal lover, this might be the perfect role for you! This role is pivotal in ensuring that innovative, safe, and compliant products are delivered on time, while also supporting the business in making accurate product claims. We are looking for someone with a strong regulatory compliance mindset, sound knowledge of AS5812 pet food standards, and the ability to support the technical team in ensuring compliance with product safety, labelling, and marketing claims. You will combine technical expertise with project management skills to manage an extensive NPD pipeline and keep all stakeholders aligned. Experience with digital project management tools such as Asana and the ability to manage multiple priorities will be key to success in this role. This position would best suit an individual with previous FMCG manufacturing or pet food NPD experience, or studies in Food Science with at least 2 years’ experience. You will bring a great eye for detail, a solutions focused approach, and enjoy hands-on problem-solving in a collaborative team environment. Robust interpersonal and communication skills are also essential.

Full Australian working rights are mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

- Development and maintenance of detailed project timelines, providing weekly business updates on project progress.
- Review of packaging development to ensure accuracy of recipes, ingredient declarations, nutritional information, and marketing claims, in line with AS5812 and other relevant standards.
- Ensure all product claims are substantiated with supporting data and align with regulatory and business requirements.
- Support research, development, and innovation of new products in line with project briefs.
- Oversee and support co-manufacturer production trials, reviewing and signing off on technical and compliance aspects prior to launch.
- Provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams to ensure food safety, product quality, and regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate will have

- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in a food manufacturing FMCG environment as a Product Developer.
- Proven project management experience with strong proficiency in project management tools like Asana, Excel, and MS Project.
- Full Australian work rights.
- A love for all animals, big or small!
