About this Opportunity
The Finance Directorate is responsible for managing CQUniversity's financial integrity, including accounting, taxation, insurance, and oversight of subsidiary companies, while providing expert financial advice and support across faculties and divisions.
Working at CQUniversity
As a key member of the Financial Accounting Team, you will shape the University's financial reporting and compliance framework. Your primary responsibilities include preparing and analysing monthly and annual financial statements, managing reconciliations, providing guidance on taxation and legislative requirements, and supporting subsidiary companies in presenting their financial results.
We are seeking a proactive, detail‑oriented professional with extensive accounting experience and strong expertise in Australian Accounting Standards. You will confidently apply your technical knowledge, deliver accurate financial insights, and contribute to system and process improvements, consistently upholding a high standard of service.

Position Requirements
* Proficient in financial accounting, including preparation of general-purpose financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and analysis of financial data.
* Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, taxation law, and relevant legislative frameworks, ideally within a higher‑education or public‑sector setting.
* Hands‑on experience in Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) and Goods and Services Tax (GST), interpreting legislation, managing compliance cycles, preparing returns, and advising stakeholders.
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with ability to interpret reports and provide actionable recommendations.
* Proficiency in business support software, including spreadsheets, reporting tools, and large corporate financial systems.
* High attention to detail and accuracy, managing high‑volume and complex data sets within strict deadlines.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills, liaising effectively with staff at all levels and supporting subsidiary companies.
