The role
As an Assistant Accountant, you'll support the Finance team by ensuring accurate, timely and compliant financial reporting. You'll work closely with the Senior Accountant and gain exposure beyond day-to-day transactions in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. Key responsibilities include assisting with a range of accounting duties, including fixed assets, month-end preparation and reporting, audit support, accounts reconciliation, sales reporting and variance analysis.
What you'll be doing
* Processing and documenting financial transactions accurately
* Reconciling balance sheet and intercompany accounts and resolving discrepancies
* Assisting with month-end and year-end close (journals and reporting)
* Supporting BAS, PAYG, Payroll Tax, FBT and other statutory reporting
* Assisting with audit documentation and requirements
* Handling day-to-day finance tasks (PO matching, invoice coding, allocations)
* Providing cover across Accounts Payable and Receivable when required
* Preparing accurate and timely monthly sales reports across products and business segments
* Assisting in CAPEX process, maintain the register and perform monthly reconciliation
* Preparing ad-hoc financial analysis and reports
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Commerce or Accounting
* 2+ years' experience in a similar accounting role
* Strong understanding of accounting principles
* High attention to detail and strong time management skills
* Advanced Excel skills (XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIFS)
* Confident written and verbal communication skills
Highly regarded
* 2-3 years of experience in AA
* Experience using ERP systems and/or Power BI
* Exposure to manufacturing or complex business environments
