Safeguarding our aquaculture operations requires a highly skilled and dedicated individual to manage predatory wildlife. As a Wildlife Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining the health and productivity of our prawn farm.
About the Role
As a Wildlife Officer, your primary responsibility will be to safely and responsibly operate firearms and animal trapping devices to protect our stock from predators. You will conduct regular pond inspections to monitor prawn health, water quality, and potential contaminants. Additionally, you will report and escalate significant wildlife threats to relevant team members and maintain accurate records and submit weekly reports on wildlife activity and control measures.
Key Responsibilities
* Safely and responsibly operate firearms and animal trapping devices to minimize risks to personnel, equipment, and stock.
* Conduct regular pond inspections to monitor prawn health, water quality, and potential contaminants.
* Report and escalate significant wildlife threats to relevant team members.
* Maintain accurate records and submit weekly reports on wildlife activity and control measures.
Requirements
* Current and valid firearms and animal trapping licenses (essential).
* Valid driver's license.
* Basic tech proficiency (iPad use for reporting).
* Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
* Legal right to work in Australia.
* Satisfactory National Police Check (required prior to appointment).
