The Kalgoorlie based Alternative Education Trainer will deliver a high quality and engaging program, supporting youth to develop their numeracy, literacy and employability skills whilst providing a welcoming and safe environment.
This role will involve community engagement with local services including organising employer and industry visits. The trainer will engage participants into meaningful activities that support them with their employment and/or education goals post program.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide mentoring to participants to engage in education, training and employment within the wider community;
* Create a positive and welcoming environment where participants have a sense of ownership in the activities carried out;
* Engage with the community and local employers to create Work Experience Opportunities and monthly excursions;
* Reporting of attendance and program achievements;
* Where appropriate, engage with parents, carers and the extended family of the participant
Key Selection Criteria
You will be a fun and engaging individual with an ability to develop rapport with participants whilst delivering an exciting program.
You will have;
* Experience working with a variety of youth from all backgrounds;
* Strong ability to build rapport with young people in a fun and engaging manner;
* Ability to supervise and manage small teams;
* Strong understanding of the local labour market and community partnerships;
