We are looking to welcome an experienced, proactive, and motivated Team Leader to our Community Services team.

In this role you will lead a team of Support Workers working with clients to improve their daily lives and achieve their individual goals.

We are a NDIS registered, not-for-profit organisation. With offices in Hobart, Launceston, Burnie and Devonport, we employ approximately 820 staff who provide support and development opportunities to Tasmanians living with disability.

About the Nexus Community Services team

Our Community Services Team delivers services to clients across Tasmania, in three areas:

Community Access - supporting clients to access events and activities in their community including social events, shopping and school.

Capacity Building - supporting clients to develop the skills and experience they need to achieve their personal goals including cooking, cleaning, and socialising.

Customised Employment - supporting clients to determine their work goals and connecting them with the training and employment opportunities that best suit them.

Our services are delivered in the community, in client homes, and in our own Hubs.

Key Responsibilities:

* Monitor and prepare reports about client progress, quotes and plan reviews

* Monitor, review, and update all client related data and documentation, and report all changes to support staff.

* Maintain and monitor all client funds within your delegation and report changes including advising management when additional funds are required for supports.

* Monitor the use of restrictive practices and report as required.

* Maintain communication with stakeholders, including families, guardians, financial administrators, medical providers, guardians, and other support providers.

* Prepare and summarise documents required for health care specialists.

* Prepare agendas and facilitate staff meetings, focusing on quality audits, client needs and any changes to Nexus policy and/or procedures.

* Conduct individual staff supervision, performance reviews and liaise with People and Culture as required.

* Monitor staff training needs, attendance and performance.

* Supervise and undertake all requirements for new staff, including conducting buddy shifts, orientation, site inductions and sign off on probations.

* Provide On Call support in response to staff and client matters on a rotating roster.

* Conduct work health and safety inspections of the work site and work vehicles, including servicing and cleaning of equipment.

* Conduct regular fire evacuation and emergency management drills

* Monitor, audit and order PPE supplies and office supplies.

* Manage Service Delivery Projects for clients.

* Manage medication administration for your team, ensuring compliance with Nexus policies and procedures.

* Report and manage incident and incident response strategies relating to clients, staff, and property.

* Administer, record, and allocate staff keys, safe codes and client and Nexus assets.

Successful candidates will have the following: (Selection Criteria)

* Proven experience supporting people with disability, or similar experience providing direct care support

* Ability to manage a diverse team, build rapport and provide support to employees.

* Well-developed written and verbal skills with an ability to communicate across different levels of the organisation.

* Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise competing tasks.

* High level data management skills.

* Knowledge of statutory requirements relevant to your work.

Qualifications

* Significant experience supporting people with disability, or similar experience providing direct care support

* Diploma of Disability, Diploma of Community Services, or Diploma of Frontline Management (desirable)

* Experience in a similar position in a not-for-profit (desirable)

* Understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) (desirable)

* Experience in Positive Behaviour support and trauma informed practice (desirable)

* Experience working with MYP (desirable)

Working in the disability sector means you will also need the following:

* Current National Police Check (no more than 6 months old)

* Current Working with Vulnerable People Card (with NDIS endorsement)

* Unrestricted Tasmanian Driver’s license
