**About the role**:
Based in Ballarat, the Regional General Manager, Youth Justice will be a member of the region's executive management team. The position will work closely with internal and external stakeholders that work with children and young people involved with, or at risk of entering the criminal justice system. In building relationships with key agencies and stakeholders the Regional General Manager, Youth Justice will influence strengthened diversionary responses, promote opportunities for the rehabilitation of young offenders and contribute to community safety and assist with crime reduction in the community. This is a full time, parental leave cover from 27 August 2025 to 1 May 2026.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide expert advice to the Regional and Executive Directors
- Provide leadership to staff, promoting the effective integration of related services and programs into DJCS
- Develop plans and strategies consistent with the regional business plan and allocate appropriate resources to locations
- Maintain case management records, ensuring quality assurance requirements are met and properly recorded
- Prepare regional reports for senior management at an advanced professional level and resolve complex and sensitive issues.
**About you**:
- Significant expertise in the statutory Youth Services context and the delivery of community-based services responding to children and young people.
- Extensive experience in the case management of complex and/or high-risk individuals/young people within the relevant legislative, practice and procedural frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and managing cross functional operations and determining service delivery resource allocation.
- Creates a culture that supports and respects the individuality of others and recognises the benefits of diverse ideas and approaches
- Develops long-term and multi-phased plans to implement complex strategies to build buy-in from key internal and external stakeholders
