About the role: We’re looking for a motivated and skilled Principal WH&S Advisor to join our government-based construction, building and maintenance department on a contract basis. In this role, you’ll be part of a team that maintains and delivers essential building and maintenance services across Queensland. You’ll play a key role in supporting the safe and reliable operation of the state’s schools, hospitals, housing, and government facilities. Providing WHS&E advice, support and guidance to department operational, supervisory and management staff regarding QBuild Safety Management System (SMS) processes and requirements, legislative compliance and new technologies. Managing and support the team to conduct site WHS&E audits and inspections to ensure work compliance, including for both QBuild and contractor delivered work. Leading the investigation of incident and hazard investigations, producing reporting as required, as well as educate QBuild staff with reporting incidents. Managing the offices and depot to ensure emergency planning and response activities are completed. The Client Our client is the Queensland Government’s building and asset services team, operating under the Department of Energy and Public Works. Delivering maintenance, construction, and project management services for public infrastructure across the state. To be successful you will have the following: Demonstrated experience providing advice in WHS legislative compliance requirements, including relevant legislation, Codes of Practice, Australian Standards/International Standards. Demonstrated strong knowledge of industry, or similar industry, including the ability to identify building construction and maintenances hazards and risks and the related controls and strategies for elimination. Demonstrated experience in the effective development and delivery of programs and improvement initiatives across. Demonstrated experience in effectively managing staff in a complex work environment.
