About Inland Rail
Inland Rail is a 1,600km freight rail line that revolutionizes the movement of goods across Australia. This transformative project connects Melbourne to Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.
This infrastructure development addresses the nation's future freight requirements and meets the demands of a growing population by shifting more goods onto rail. The result is safer roads, reduced congestion, lower emissions, and a more resilient and sustainable national freight network.
We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Community Outreach Specialist to join our team on the Illabo to Stockinbingal (I2S) section of the project. The successful candidate will provide high-quality community outreach advice, planning, delivery, and review across community outreach and communications activity.
* Key Responsibilities:
* Developing and implementing outreach plans
* Arranging community outreach events
* Developing content for communications collateral
* Preparing presentations for community groups
* Planning, coordinating, attending, and reporting on project events
* Assisting with contractor management
* Managing enquiries and complaints
* Monitoring and responding to comments
* Managing and maintaining relevant data in the outreach database
* Delivering project messaging with stakeholders and contractors
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you must be an excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills. You should be capable of liaising and negotiating with diverse stakeholders, from consultants and contractors to community groups and landowners.
You will need to demonstrate experience in community outreach and engagement, preferably within infrastructure, transport, or logistics sectors. Additionally, you should have working knowledge and understanding of digital media and technologies to support community outreach.
The ideal candidate will have proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders in politically sensitive environments. You will also need to build relationships with stakeholders that promote effective dialogue with the Inland Rail Program team.
