Stella Maris is a primary school, with an enrolment of over 720 students, located in a rainforest setting at Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast. Summary

Use your expertise to advise on and manage the school's risk and compliance systems to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.

* Location: Stella Maris - Maroochydore
* Start date: Commencing as soon as practical
* Work hours: 38 hours per week
* Salary: School Officer Level 5 - $39.44 + super (School Salary Scale)
* Status: Term Time | Permanent
* The successful applicant will also be offered the vacant Facilities Officer positions for a further two days at level 5 totalling 1 FTE

About The Opportunity

In this position you will be responsible for:

* Overseeing the development, maintenance and operations of relevant systems and resources and recommending improvements to processes and procedures.
* Developing and interpreting legislation, regulations, procedures and other guideline material relating to operations within the school.
* Delivering and advising staff, students, and the school community on policy updates and publishing via appropriate channels.
* Facilitating the completion and report on risk and compliance tasks through the appropriate avenues
* Advising and facilitating the conduct of risk assessments by responsible staff members for school events.

This position will also include work as the Facilities Manager which you will:

* Collaborate with the Principal on long-term facilities planning, including budgeting and master planning.
* Provide advice on workplace health and safety, and contractor management
* Lead the development and execution of capital maintenance programs and minor works projects
* Manage day-to-day operations of school facilities, including cleaning schedule, security protocols and maintenance registers
* Supervise the Facilities and Grounds team, ensuring tasks are prioritised and completed efficiently
* Monitor and manage the facilities budget, including procurement and contract negotiations
* Oversee grounds maintenance including landscaping, turf care and preparation for school events and carnivals
* Coordinate setup and logistics for school functions and emergency response drills
* Ensure compliance with WHS legislation and BCE policies
* Conduct regular audits and inspections, maintaining accurate records and initiating corrective actions
* Induct staff and contractors in safe work practices and chemical handling


About You

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:

* Expertise in developing, maintaining, and improving operational systems and processes.
* Strong understanding of legislation, regulations, and guidelines to interpret and apply within a school setting.
* Ability to communicate policy updates clearly to a wide variety of groups and stakeholders.
* Experience in managing and reporting on risk and compliance tasks effectively.
* Skilled in advising and facilitating risk assessments for events.
* Tertiary qualification at Associate Diploma/Diploma in a related field
* For this position you are not required to be Catholic.


Eligibility And Safeguarding Requirements

* Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
* Hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement.
