**The Role**
The School of Armour (SOARMD) is currently seeking an experienced Work Health and Safety Officer (WHS) at the APS 4 level to lead and oversee WHS functions at SOARMD HQ and provide technical advice and assurance to the Command Team and throughout the Unit.
Reporting to the Commanding Officer and Regimental 2IC, the position supports trainees and staff by providing high quality, timely and accurate guidance on work health and safety matters.
**About our Team**
The APS 4 WHS Officer position sits within the SOARMD HQ team and is responsible for work health and safety activities across the Command. The WHS team supports staff and students by providing high quality, timely and accurate advice on work health and safety matters.
This role requires you to engage with internal and external stakeholders that can be dispersed throughout the precinct and walking around the site will be a requirement of the role.
In this role, the WHS Officer will require:
- A good working knowledge of Work Health and Safety legislation and practices;
- Experience maintaining and updating a WHS Management System for a large private or government organisation;
- Collaborating with and providing well-structured advice to influence internal and external stakeholders;
- Working with senior staff (designated as officers under s27 of the WHS Act);
- Work as part of a small team to plan and prioritise work to tight deadlines;
- Represent a WHS team at WHS related conversations, training and forums;
- Well-developed writing skills including briefs, reports, papers;
- Be proactive, resilient and organised; and
- The ability to work with limited supervision to action multiple priorities in a high-tempo environment.
