Job Summary:
Our organization is seeking a Mental Health Specialist to provide vital services to youth in custody.
* Conduct mental health assessments, formulate treatment plans, and deliver evidence-based care and support for young people requiring immediate assistance.
* Collaborate with clients, families, and other stakeholders to promote recovery-oriented approaches and enhance overall well-being.
About the Role
The Mental Health Specialist will hold a client caseload and complete comprehensive assessments, formulations, and treatment planning. They will also facilitate crisis intervention and family support initiatives.
This role is embedded within our Custodial Forensic Mental Health Services team and is based at the Youth Justice Precinct.
Occasional travel to other service locations may be required; working hours will accommodate necessary travel time.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide specialist mental health services to youth in custody, including assessment, formulation, and treatment planning.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to promote recovery-focused approaches and ensure seamless care coordination.
* Facilitate crisis intervention and family support initiatives to address complex needs.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Psychology or a related field.
* Postgraduate qualifications in Mental Health or a related area are highly regarded.
* Proven experience in providing mental health services to youth populations.
* Strong understanding of trauma-informed care principles and recovery-oriented practices.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
