Position Overview
The HSEQ Advisor role is required for a three (3) month, fixed term period, to provide hands-on HSEQ support to integrate and uplift HSEQ systems at Westurn Engineering.
This is not a desktop or advisory role – it requires an experienced professional to be embedded on-site, working directly with workshop teams, supervisors and leadership to implement HSEQ systems, mentor personnel and lift safety culture in a practical, sustainable way.
Westurn Engineering is at an early stage of HSEQ maturity, with formal systems and training frameworks being new to much of the workforce. This role is critical in ensuring systems are not only developed but actively understood, applied and embedded in day-to-day operations.

Westurn Engineering is a well-established CNC machining business with a team of 26 and a reputation for quality and reliability across the mining, defence, agriculture, automotive and marine sectors. The team are based in a purpose-built facility in Stake Hill, just off the freeway near Mandurah and continue to invest in state-of-the-art equipment to support our growing client base.
Key Responsibilities
* Work hands-on in workshops and operational environments to implement practical HSEQ controls aligned to real tasks and risks
* Coach and mentor supervisors and trades through toolbox talks, prestart, hazard identification and safe work practices
* Assist in the facilitation of risk assessments and development of operating procedures and management plan documentation.
* Drive closure of corrective actions and risk items through on-site verification and practical control implementation
* Develop and deliver task-based training, supporting Training Needs Analysis and building site capability
* Review HSEQ data to identify risk trends and support uplift of reporting systems and safety performance
About You
* Must hold a minimum of a Certificate IV WHS
* Lead Auditor WHS or Quality Systems (Highly Desirable)
* Intermediate skills in Microsoft 365 platform applications, including SharePoint, Excel and Word.
* Familiar with online Learning Management Systems.
* Proven experience in workshop, industrial or high‑risk operational environments
* Demonstrated ability to implement HSEQ systems on site, lead risk assessments and close corrective actions
* Strong capability coaching and mentoring frontline workers and supervisors
* Solid working knowledge of WHS legislation, ISO 9001/14001/45001 and risk management processes
* Experience with audits, inspections, incident investigations and system implementation
* Hands‑on, solutions‑focused communicator able to build trust across all levels of a business
