Your Role and Impact
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the HSE Manager plays a key role in supporting a safe work environment across the business. This key position focuses on the practical implementation of HSE systems, strengthening safety leadership, and monitoring the effectiveness of critical controls.
Key responsibilities include:
* Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organisation's Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) management systems, strategy, policies, and procedures
* Embed a strong, proactive safety culture through visible leadership, collaboration with managers and supervisors, and positive engagement with frontline teams
* Provide expert advice and governance to operational leaders on HSE risk management, legislative compliance, and best-practice controls
* Facilitate hazard identification, risk assessments, and the implementation and monitoring of effective, practical and safety-critical controls
* Oversee workplace inspections, audits, high-risk activities, and emergency preparedness to ensure ongoing compliance with WHS and environmental legislation
* Lead incident reporting, investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and lessons-learned processes
* Monitor, analyse and report on HSE performance, trends and leading/lagging indicators to drive proactive improvement initiatives
* Develop, deliver and support HSE training, inductions, toolbox talks and wellbeing initiatives to build capability across the business
* Champion continuous improvement by identifying risks, emerging trends, and opportunities to strengthen systems and outcomes
* Stay current with regulatory changes, industry standards, and innovations to maintain best-practice HSE systems
* Act as a trusted advisor and key liaison with internal stakeholders, contractors, regulators, and external partners
What You Bring
* Certificate IV (or higher) in OHS/WHS and membership with the Safety Institute of Australia (SIA) or Australian Institute of Health & Safety (AIHS)
* Broad factual and technical knowledge of OHS/WHS legislation, standards and best practice
* Experience supporting compliance within an operational work environment
* A practical, methodical approach to hazard control and risk management
* Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and support teams at all levels
* Confidence in preparing reports and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
* A collaborative approach and the ability to build trust with frontline teams and leaders
