We're a successful electronics design and manufacturing business on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.
To aid our 2026 growth plans we're looking for an experienced production engineer to take ownership of our Yamaha YG-series SMT line and contribute to the reliability, quality and throughput of our manufacturing operations. This is a hands-on role in a stable environment with medium-mix, medium-volume processes, and presents a unique combination of technical responsibility and the Sunshine Coast lifestyle
What you'll be responsible for:
SMT line ownership
* Programming, setup and operation of the Yamaha YG-series based pick-and-place line.
* Managing line changeovers and production programs.
* Monitoring first-pass yield, identifying trends and working with engineering on continuous improvement measures.
* Planning, performing and documenting routine maintenance of the SMT line and associated equipment.
Equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
* Fault-finding the stencil printer, pick-and-place machines, reflow oven, wave solder machine and board-handling equipment. Machine diagnostic and repair skills would be a big plus.
Production support and documentation
* Updating and improving assembly documentation, work instructions and production procedures.
* Recording production metrics such as throughput, downtime and scrap.
* Maintaining revision control of production programs and test configurations.
Manual and mixed assembly tasks
* As required in a small manufacturing team, you will need to perform other hands on tasks such as manual assembly, rework and inspection.
* Supporting production quality through occasional troubleshooting of product faults, with escalation to design engineering where needed.
* Maintaining ESD compliance and equipment handling discipline.
Collaboration
* Working directly with the design team on production issues and root-cause investigations.
* Communicating clearly with the production manager and rest of the production team.
* Participate in design reviews to provide feedback on potential manufacturing issues.
* Interfacing between design and production, aiding in New Product Introduction.
What we're looking for
* Solid experience operating and maintaining SMT equipment in a commercial environment.
* Strong diagnostic capability across mechanical, electrical and process-related faults.
* Australian working rights.
* Familiarity with IPC standards such as IPC-A-610.
Role details
* Full-time, 38 hours per week.
* Onsite at our Kunda Park facility on the Sunshine Coast.
* Salary: $80k–$90k + super, depending on experience.
This role is intended for candidates with hands-on SMT production experience. We recognise that experienced professionals may not meet every listed requirement in exactly the same way, so if you have operated SMT production equipment in a commercial environment and are comfortable taking responsibility for line performance, we encourage you to apply.
