About the Client
This is a highly respected and profitable business with a long-standing reputation for excellence in IT services and cybersecurity. The client base is stable and engaged, and clients genuinely value the expertise and service provided—engineers are treated as trusted partners, not just vendors. The company culture is collaborative, supportive, and high-performing, with a small, sharp team where every voice is heard and every contribution matters. Having evolved from a traditional MSP to a leader in modern cyber solutions, the business maintains a healthy portfolio of managed service clients while driving innovation in security. Immediate start is available for the right person.
About the Role
* Hands-on, senior technical position focused on delivering infrastructure projects, advanced L3 escalations, and cyber solution engineering (including POCs, trials, and deployments).
* Balanced workload: approximately 60% infrastructure projects, 30% L3 support/escalations, and 10% cyber solution engineering.
* Act as a senior escalation point for complex issues, mentor junior engineers, and take technical ownership of project delivery from planning through to handover.
* Purely technical role—no sales targets or quotas.
* Hybrid working arrangement: a mix of office (St Kilda Rd), work-from-home, and occasional client site visits.
The Successful Candidate
* Minimum 5 years' experience as a Systems/Senior Systems/L3 Engineer, with a strong background in an MSP or multi-customer IT services environment—MSP experience is essential.
* Demonstrated ability to deliver infrastructure projects end-to-end, not just assist.
* Deep technical skills across Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, Windows Server, Active Directory, networking (firewalls, VPN, routing/switching), and backup/DR platforms.
* Familiarity with MSP tooling (RMM, PSA/ticketing systems).
* Excellent communication skills—able to explain complex concepts in plain language to SME and mid-market clients.
* Calm under pressure, proactive, collaborative, and committed to high standards of documentation and process.
* A genuine curiosity and interest in cybersecurity.
* Exposure to modern security tools (EDR, email security, application control, SWG/ZTNA, phishing/SAT) and relevant certifications are highly regarded.
