We are seeking applications from highly capable and experienced Psychiatrists to lead and advance our Postgraduate Training Program.
This full-time position is initially available as a six month contract, with the possibility of extensions up to five years.

About This Role
Western Australian Metropolitan Psychiatry Training is currently transitioning from a centralised to a new hybrid training model, with implementation in February 2027. The Director of Psychiatry Training - NMHS will play a key role in supporting this transition phase and, from 2027, will lead NMHS psychiatry training within the hybrid model, working collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders, to ensure high-quality, compliant, and sustainable training delivery.
The Director Psychiatry Training for North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS) leads and administers the Postgraduate Training Program for Trainee Psychiatrists in the service. They are responsible for the coordination, governance, and quality of training delivery for trainee psychiatrists, working closely with trainees, supervisors, Heads of Service, Medical Workforce, and hospital and departmental administration on all matters relating to training.
The Director also oversees the postgraduate training administrative function and staff and acts as the primary liaison with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and the Network Director of Training to ensure accreditation compliance and alignment with statewide training requirements.
This position reports to the Director Medical Services at NMHS MH and has a number of direct and indirect reports. See the attached Job Description Form for more information.

To be eligible for this position, you must be registered by the Medical Board of Australia as a specialist and have Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.
In addition to the above, you need a commitment to improving and supporting training, accompanied by previous training experience in this setting. An improvement and innovation focus is necessary to deliver this service into the future., along with leadership and governance experience and strong relationship-building skills.
