Project Cost Controller Opportunity

We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative professional to join our projects function as a project cost controller. This role will involve working closely with project managers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to monitor financial performance and support cost recovery processes.

* Maintain accurate records of supplier costs, contractor data, and materials using expert tools or similar software.
* Track and reconcile timesheets, invoices, journals, and project expenses for effective cost management.
* Prepare and analyze project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports to ensure timely delivery and within budget.
* Support the processing of progress claims and cost recovery from external agencies to minimize project risks.
* Provide valuable financial insights and reporting for regular project meetings.
* Assist in developing business cases and documentation for informed decision-making.
* Liaise with suppliers to ensure efficient invoicing and cost transparency, minimizing disputes.
* Collaborate with project managers to closely monitor cost performance, identify potential issues, and implement corrective measures.
* Generate comprehensive reports and maintain up-to-date reporting schedules to ensure stakeholders' needs are met.

Requirements

This role requires a skilled cost control professional with experience in infrastructure or project environments. You should be confident in Excel, able to work effectively across multiple projects, and possess excellent communication skills to engage with people at all levels.

* A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project cost control, demonstrating the ability to operate independently and effectively in a cost management function.
* Experience in cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting to inform business decisions.
* Ability to manage timesheets, journals, and invoice reconciliation to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
* Strong Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems such as JD Edwards.
* Familiarity with project management tools like Primavera or MS Project.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills to build strong relationships.
* Experience in rail or infrastructure projects, with an understanding of rail alliance projects and infrastructure delivery.
