Role title: Clinical Psychologist (Year 1-5)
Role type: Permanent, part time (24hrs per week)
Department and location: Chronic Pain Service, St Vincent's Hospital, Darlinghurst
Salary: $113,617.00 - $138,482.00 (Pro rata) + Super + Salary Packaging

About the role

* Be responsible for delivering specialised psychological assessment, formulation, and intervention for patients experiencing chronic pain within the Palliative Care context, including both inpatient unit and outpatient services.
* Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments to support diagnosis, formulation, and management planning for patients experiencing chronic or persistent pain within palliative care.
* Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary Chronic Pain and Palliative Care teams to implement evidence-based, biopsychosocial management programs tailored to the needs of patients with chronic pain.
* Provide psychological interventions, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and other evidence-based approaches, to support patient adjustment to chronic pain and end-of-life challenges. Offer counselling, psychoeducation, and support to families and carers when appropriate.
* Contribute to family conferences to support shared understanding, communication, and collaborative decision-making regarding the patient's treatment goals and care plan.
* Engage in ongoing professional and clinical supervision as appropriate to the Department of Psychology and the Department of Palliative Care and Pain Medicine, supporting reflective practice, clinical governance, and continuous professional development.

About you

* Current AHPRA registration and endorsement in the area of Clinical Psychology.
* Demonstrated skills and experience in psychological assessment, including the use of validated psychometrics, behavioral observations, and clinical interviews to formulate interventions relevant to both chronic pain and palliative care.
* Proven ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams, contributing psychological expertise to shared case planning, case conferences, and coordinated care in hospital and outpatient settings.
* Engagement in supervision, reflective practice, and ongoing professional development consistent with clinical psychology practice standards.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage patients, families, and clinicians with sensitivity and clarity.
