Berrinba East State School is seeking an experienced and proactive Workplace Safety and Wellbeing Coordinator to lead the strategic coordination of workplace health, safety and wellbeing initiatives across the school. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with departmental policies and legislative requirements, driving continuous improvement in safety systems, and embedding a culture of wellbeing and shared accountability. The successful applicant will provide expert advice to the Principal and leadership team on risk management, incident prevention and response, and staff wellbeing frameworks. Berrinba East State School is a Prep to Year 6 co‑educational state school located at 165 Bardon Road, Berrinba, QLD 4117. Established in 1977, the school serves a culturally diverse community—approximately half of its students come from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. You will lead the development, implementation and evaluation of initiatives that promote a safe, supportive and high‑performing work environment.
Responsibilities Include
* Maintain connection to the Health and Safety Advisor/Representatives by playing an active role in Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW).
* Participate in internal and external audits and contribute to the implementation of identified corrective actions.
* Provide leadership, guidance and advice regarding HS&W including injury management to effect improvements in HS&W performance.
* Monitor, review, analyse and report on incidents from MyHR Workplace Health and Safety to identify new or emerging issues, risks or trends and recommend strategies for improvement and corrective actions.
* Facilitate HS&W training to raise awareness for all employees on delivery strategies with the view to building a positive safety culture.

The Perfect Fit
* Proven experience in coordinating workplace health and safety systems and processes within a complex organisational environment.
* Strong understanding of relevant legislation, policy and reporting requirements.
* High‑level communication, consultation and relationship‑building skills.
* The ability to analyse data, identify trends and implement evidence‑informed improvement strategies.
* A commitment to fostering a culture of care, inclusion and wellbeing across the school community.
