Job Overview
We are seeking a seasoned construction professional to drive growth and shape lending policy for construction funding across Business Banking. The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing the entire construction process.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the assessment and oversight of construction finance transactions from end to end, ensuring seamless integration with business frameworks.
* Review quantitative survey reports, payment schedules, and development budgets to guarantee alignment with business banking requirements.
* Conduct thorough technical due diligence on builder capability, contract terms, and construction risk to minimize potential threats.
* Design and deliver training programs to enhance frontline skills in construction risk and QS report interpretation, empowering staff to make informed decisions.
* Act as a subject matter expert supporting frontline bankers with complex construction transactions, providing strategic guidance and expertise.
* Build strong relationships with quantity survey firms, developers, and builders, fostering collaborative partnerships that drive success.
* Engage early with deal teams to align on valuation, budget, and construction metrics, ensuring optimal project outcomes.
* Review insurances, builder licenses, and certificates to protect the bank's security and minimize risks.
* Monitor drawdowns and payments, verifying alignment with QS certifications and policy to ensure compliance.
* Provide strategic insights to support internal policy development, driving innovation and improvement within the organization.
Requirements
* Strong analytical, report-writing, and interpersonal skills, with exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Proven track record in translating complex construction concepts into actionable solutions.
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field, with professional qualifications preferred (AIQS/RICS).
* Minimum 5 years' experience in QS or project management, with deep knowledge of construction contracts, valuation, and risk frameworks.
* Experience collaborating with financial professionals is highly valued, with a strong understanding of industry trends and best practices.
