About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Application Support Engineer to join our team and work across our comprehensive systems stack.
You will assist with support, works tracking, configuration, spatial processing, automation, scripting, and systems integrations. You will collaborate with technical leads, system managers, support technicians, and field users to identify and implement process improvements, manage releases, and support integration solutions — all with a strong connection to our operations team.

* Collaborate with the Support Team and stakeholders to maintain Active Mobile — our core Works & Asset Management System
* Track work using our IT ticketing system and mentor junior staff
* Contribute to documentation efforts, helping to standardise common practices and reduce key-person dependency
* Build strong working relationships with technical and operational stakeholders
* Stay current with trends and best practices in data collection systems and field-based technologies
* Get involved in front-end design and development where applicable
* Contribute to testing — system, performance, and user acceptance
* Apply your scripting skills, especially in Python, to automate and streamline processes
Required Experience
* Experience in the Vegetation Management industry or adjacent industries is highly desirable
* Proven experience supporting line-of-business applications built on a 3-tier architecture (IIS, logic/services layer, SQL) running on Windows
* Experience customising applications with workflows, screens, and configurations
* Familiarity with ITIL principles and working in a service management environment (e.g. Jira)
* Understanding of release management and DevOps principles
Desirable Skills
* Solid experience supporting .NET-based applications
* Strong SQL skills, preferably T-SQL, for troubleshooting and query optimisation
* Strong Python scripting skills for automation
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills — both with technical teams and non-technical users
* Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
* Customer-focused approach, able to work across a broad range of internal and external stakeholders
About You
* You have a natural curiosity — you pull things apart to understand how they work
* You are a Permanent Resident or Australian Citizen
* You enjoy working with people — collaboration is at the heart of this role
Why Join Active?
* Stable employment in a progressive, innovative, 50-year-old family-owned business
* In-house training and mentoring in spatial technologies and system support
* A genuinely supportive, forward-thinking team
* Competitive salary, Christmas shutdowns, and the latest tech

* Flexible working arrangements — hybrid works, but face to face is important in this role (minimum 3 in/2 split expected)
