The Opportunity

This position offers a meaningful chance to contribute to student success within the Buranga Centre. As the Academic Success Coordinator, you'll play an important role in supporting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students by offering thoughtful guidance, building strong connections, and working closely with colleagues across our Schools and Student Services. Your work will help create an environment where students feel encouraged, supported, and able to thrive.

The University of the Sunshine Coast considers that being Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander is a genuine occupational requirement for this position under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld) and the filling of this position constitutes a special/equal opportunity measure under section 8(1) of the Racial Discrimination Act 1975 (Cth). The position is therefore only open to Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.

You bring heart, clarity and purpose to your work, with a genuine commitment to uplifting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students throughout their learning journey. You care deeply about creating spaces where students feel supported, safe, and confident, and you're energised by helping them settle in, stay on track, and succeed in ways that feel true to who they are. You're comfortable coordinating a wide mix of activities and you enjoy working closely with teams across the University to ensure students receive the right advice at the right time. You build trusting relationships, communicate with ease, and bring a collaborative spirit to every interaction. Most importantly, you value culture, community and opportunity, and you're ready to play a meaningful role in strengthening the student experience at UniSC.

Qualifications

* Experience leading small teams with a steady, supportive approach that builds a focused, connected and positive team culture.
* Strong experience working alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities, with a deep understanding of their educational, cultural and engagement needs.
* A track record of developing and delivering initiatives that genuinely empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in their learning journeys.
* Confident interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to create safe and inclusive spaces, work well both independently and with others, build strong relationships, manage priorities, maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement.
* Clear and considered verbal and written communication skills, including experience preparing accurate reports and documentation.
* Comfortable use of corporate systems, email, browsers and general software.
* A solid understanding of the Australian Higher Education landscape and how it shapes the student experience.

Benefits

* Collaborative, passionate and welcoming culture.
* Modern teaching & research facilities.
* Professional development and career pathway opportunities.
* Prestigious Athena SWAN Bronze Award.
* Flexible work arrangements & generous leave options.
