CSR owns 70% of Gove Aluminium Finance Limited (GAF), which owns 36.05% of the Tomago aluminium smelter, near Newcastle in New South Wales. This is a leading manufacturer of aluminium products, including extrusion billet, rolling slab, and aluminium ingot which produces close to 595,000 tonnes of aluminium annually.
We have a new 12-month contract opportunity for a Logistics Officer to join this small important team within CSR to solely support the Aluminium Shipping logistics. This role reports directly into the Logistics Manager for Aluminium and is to start immediately. The role is initially a contract position but has a strong potential to open to a permanent role.
**Scope of role**:
- Booking shipments and arranging schedule for aluminium product based on contractual terms, customer requests, product supply and cost effectiveness.
- Enter and maintain order details within internal BSM software system.
- Communicate with the smelter and logistic partners when issues arise to resolve promptly and efficiently.
- Ensure systems data are updated accurately and maintained.
- Monitor order movement during the month.
- Ensure orders are ready, containers are packed, railed and meet vessel cut off.
- Work with the Administration officer to ensure all documentation (invoice, bills of lading,insurance certificate etc.) are dispatched to customer within 2 days of BL date.
- Providing shipping schedule details and provide updates where required.
- Assisting with diverse customer requests.
**What you will bring**:
- You may be a Supply chain and Logistics graduate, with some work experience to date, looking to join a leading Australian company and kick start a career as a Logistics officer.
- Alternatively, you may have experience working in an administration role, supporting global procurement or logistics, with an understanding of the end-to-end shipping transportation process.
- Critically this is a role that requires a high level of "can do" and someone that is keen to learn and support a small but busy team.
- Must have a strong attention to detail.
- Solid ability to work within clear time frames, with a high degree of data input accuracy.
- Strong communication skills with a style that fit with a diverse international clientele.
- Soid experience working with Microsoft office, Word and Excel and CMS systems (BSM is advantageous)
- Previous exposure working with shipping companies, is highly valuable but not essential.
- A positive and friendly engagement style, team-player, clear communicator, who shows initiative is essential to the success of the role
