Key Trading Role in Recycling and Industrial Materials
A trading executive is required by a leading national organization to fill a key role within their recycling and industrial materials division. The successful candidate will be hands-on, enjoying being out in the field, building supplier relationships, negotiating deals, and driving growth across a fast-paced and operationally focused environment.
Responsibilities include:
* Developing and managing a portfolio of suppliers including scrap dealers, demolition contractors and industrial sites to drive profitability through strategic procurement
* Conducting regular site visits to assess material quality, prepare quotes, negotiate pricing, and close deals
* Monitoring market trends, influences and commodity prices to identify trading opportunities and mitigate risk
* Coordinating closely with transport, operations, administration, and scheduling teams to ensure safe and timely pickups, processing, and delivery
* Delivering on budgeted trading performance and contributing to the overall strategic growth of the recycling business
Requirements include:
* Proven experience in commodity trading, preferably with metals, recycling or scrap waste
* Strong commercial acumen with the ability to analyze markets and identify good sales based on internal factors (cost, safety, transport etc)
* Track record of building and managing supplier relationships across multiple channels
* Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with a focus on delivering margin and maintaining long-term partnerships
* Ability to learn, adapt and work with a range of clients
