Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional engineer to work on the Hunter Class line of business based at SA-Osborne Naval Shipyard.
This role involves supporting the design, changes to the design and integration of mechanical equipment for the Hunter Class Frigate Program. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with internal teams and external suppliers to deliver safe, compliant, and cost-effective solutions that align with project objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply knowledge of mechanical engineering principles to resolve engineering problems while adhering to established processes and governance.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of mechanical solutions, including conducting analyses and supporting manufacturing, integration, and validation activities.
- Assist in the preparation and review of detailed designs for mechanical equipment to meet architectural requirements and project needs.
- Provide evidence for fitness for purpose, regulatory compliance, safety, and quality assurance, ensuring robust documentation supports the design's adequacy.
About You
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronic, or Aeronautical Engineering. We encourage candidates who may not currently hold the qualifications required for Engineers Australia membership to apply.
- Eligible for membership with the Institute of Engineers Australia (IEAust).
- Proven experience working as a professional engineer.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information effectively to project personnel.
- Ability to work confidently and collaboratively within a project team environment.
