Kailo Medical builds the workflow software that radiology and medical imaging teams rely on every day - reporting, integration, and the AI products that are reshaping how imaging gets read and reported. Our platform spans Australia, New Zealand, North America and beyond, and our code touches real patient care: the reports clinicians write, the studies they prioritise, the data that flows safely between systems.
We're a focused team of around 40, backed for serious growth, and we're in the middle of the most interesting stretch in our history - building a new generation of AI‐first products and modernising the platform underneath them.
The Opportunity
This is a hands‐on full stack role for a developer with a few years of solid production experience who's ready to own features end to end across a real, commercial healthcare platform.
You'll work in modern .NET and C# against SQL Server, build and improve web front ends, and integrate with the healthcare systems (HL7, DICOM, and increasingly FHIR) that radiology runs on. You'll do it in a team that treats AI as a core part of how software gets built - not a novelty.
If you want your code to matter, like working close to the domain, and want to sharpen your craft alongside engineers who take quality seriously, this is a good place to do it.
Your Day to Day
* Design, build and maintain high‐quality features across the stack - backend services through to the UI
* Work across the full development lifecycle: requirements, design, build, test, deploy
* Build and maintain web front ends in Blazor
* Develop and optimise SQL Server schemas and queries that support core clinical workflows
* Integrate with healthcare systems and messaging‐based interfaces (HL7, DICOM, FHIR)
* Write clean, testable, well‐documented code with security built in (OWASP)
* Contribute to code reviews, shared standards and technical documentation
* Help modernise parts of the platform toward cleaner architectural patterns
How We Build - AI‐Native by Default
This isn't a line item. Kailo runs an AI‐native engineering culture, with Claude (Anthropic) adopted across the company and tooling like Claude Code part of the daily workflow.
* Use AI tools as a core part of how you deliver - code generation, test coverage, debugging, refactoring and documentation
* Build and use reusable AI building blocks (skills, agents, MCP servers) that make the whole team faster
* Own your output. You're accountable for everything you ship, regardless of how it was produced - validate AI‐generated code, know when to trust it and when to override it
* Apply good judgement on security and data handling when working with AI, especially given the clinical data we deal with
If you already use AI tools every day and have a clear sense of where they help and where they don't, you'll fit right in. If you're keen to but haven't had the chance, we'll get you there fast.
What You'll Bring
* 3–5+ years of professional software development building production‐grade applications
* Strong C# / .NET (including modern .NET 8+), ASP.NET Core and Web API / RESTful services
* SQL Server - schema design through to query optimisation (we use Dapper / micro‐ORM patterns)
* Front‐end development with Blazor (Razor components) and solid HTML5/CSS3
* Git, CI/CD pipelines and Azure DevOps
* OOP, design patterns and service‐oriented thinking - applied, not just understood
* Secure coding practices (OWASP), automated testing and a habit of writing testable code
* Agile delivery (Scrum or Kanban)
* Must have current right to work in Australia
Bonus Points For
* Healthcare or eHealth integration experience, and interoperability standards such as HL7, DICOM or FHIR
* Integration patterns and messaging‐based / event‐driven systems
* Containerisation, observability and monitoring
* Performance, load and integration testing
* Modernising legacy .NET / front‐end code toward modern patterns
Your First Six Months
* 30 days - Onboarded, codebase familiar, contributing to sprint delivery
* 90 days - Owning features end to end, active in code reviews, comfortable across the stack
* 6 months - A trusted contributor: shipping quality work, raising shared standards, and part of how we make technical decisions
You'll Fit Right In If
* You write code others can read, maintain and build on
* You take initiative and don't wait to be told what needs improving
* You're comfortable across a wide codebase and not precious about your corner of it
* You collaborate well across disciplines and can translate technical context without the jargon
* You care that the software you build actually helps the clinicians using it
Also Required
* National Police Check (we work with clinical and patient data)
