The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.

This Department of Education regional office role is located in the Inner East Area, North East Victoria Region, Schools and Regional Services. Regions provide an interface between the department's central office, schools and service providers, ensuring that learners move seamlessly through the education system and achieve better outcomes and meet the department's ambitious Education State targets.
About the role
An exciting opportunity exists for a School Improvement Project Support Officer (SIPSO) to join the Department of Education, Inner East Area in an ongoing capacity from 2nd March 2026.
The purpose of the SIPSO role is to provide high‑quality executive and administrative support to the Inner East Area Executive Director, to assist in the delivery of the Department of Education's priorities and objectives. The role will also provide administrative support to the Inner East leadership team and program areas that support 119 government schools and early years services across Monash, Manningham, Whitehorse and Boroondara local government areas.
This Executive Assistant type role involves a mix of administrative tasks and requires highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail including in relation to paying invoices and accounts and the ability to work in a highly collaborative and supportive way with Executive staff, managers and other administration team members.
The SIPSO will demonstrate discretion, confidentiality, integrity and initiative in the performance of their tasks, which include:
* Executive support to the Executive Director including diary and email inbox management and input and coordination of written briefings.
* Meeting and event management, including large forums, on behalf of the Executive Director and leadership team.
* Invoice processing via the Oracle Procurement Cloud platform.
* Recruitment and onboarding support to leadership team members.
* Using and maintaining various electronic administrative platforms for a range of purposes.
* Delivering administrative process improvements as required by the area.
* Providing administration support into a range of teams as required.
