Boulder Primary School (PS) are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the **** school year and up to the end of Term 4, ****. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
The Role
We are currently seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Education Assistants and Special Needs Education Assistants to join our supportive and professional team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a school community that values tradition, innovation, and the success of every student.
As a Special Needs Education Assistant, you will ideally work under the guidance of classroom teachers to provide educational, behavioural, and health support to students with diverse additional needs. Your role should involve helping implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs), supporting student engagement, and contributing to a positive, inclusive learning environment.
Support may be provided across a range of settings, including whole-class, small-group, one-on-one, and off-site activities. The position also includes assisting with personal care and daily routines as required.
Suitable applicants will ideally bring strong interpersonal and communication skills, enabling them to work collaboratively within a team environment and effectively support students, staff, and the broader school community. We highly value applicants who have experience working with students with disabilities and diverse learning needs, demonstrating sensitivity, empathy, and a commitment to inclusive education practices.
Applicants should also possess a sound understanding of strategies that support student learning, encourage positive behaviour, and foster engagement. The ability to show initiative, adapt to changing priorities, and follow established routines with minimal supervision is highly desirable. Strong organisational skills and confidence in using computers and education-related software are also valued. A genuine commitment to inclusion, equity, and student wellbeing will be key to supporting the school's mission and creating a positive learning environment for all students.

Eligibility

be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment. obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.

A CV of up to four (4) pages outlining your employment history and professional learning summary relevant to this position A two (2)page statement addressing the following selection criteria as outlined in the attached JDF Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents and teaching professionals on the provision of educational programs, and to assist teachers in understanding students where necessary. Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented. Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists. Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs. Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents. Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
