About the role
As the Recoveries Specialist Lead, you will play a dual role: managing a portfolio of complex motor vehicle claims while also supporting the wider team in fostering a high-performing, compliant and values-driven team.
Full-time position Monday to Friday, 8:30AM – 5:00PM
Office location could not be better for public transport – located right above the bustling Fortitude Valley Train Station(please note this role is in-office, no work-from-home)
Manage end-to-end recoveries and claims for large fleet and hire vehicle customers, including liability determinations, supplier management, customer/broker liaison and settlement negotiations
Act as an escalation point for the wider team, guiding resolution of complex or high-risk matters within your delegated authority
Coach, mentor and provide ongoing support and guidance to team members, both informally and through structured development
Support the wider claims and recoveries team in complaint resolution, client meetings and continuous improvement initiatives
Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and internal frameworks, and contribute to system and process improvement initiatives
About you
You're a dependable, technically skilled claims and recoveries professional who thrives on structure, accuracy and getting the job done right the first time.
You take pride in your work, approach tasks with rigour and lead by example.
You'll likely describe yourself as someone who:
Has a minimum of 2–3 years of experience in motor insurance recoveries and claims, with a strong understanding of third-party and liability processes
Has previous experience in a leadership, 'go-to' or mentoring role, where you've coached others and provided expert guidance with clarity and care
Is highly task-focused, taking satisfaction in seeing things through from start to finish with a keen attention to detail
Adheres strictly to established procedures and compliance frameworks, understanding the importance of operating within regulatory and internal guidelines
Is analytical and methodical in decision-making, gathering relevant information and assessing all angles before acting; particularly in high-stakes or technical situations
Communicates with emotional intelligence, showing respect, sincerity and professionalism in all interactions, you're not one for showmanship; you lead quietly but effectively
Exhibits calm confidence, particularly in complex or escalated claim scenarios; you're comfortable making informed decisions in your area of expertise and backing them up with logic and experience
Has strong follow-through, consistently delivering on what's been delegated to you and never letting a task fall through the cracks
Thrives in a structured, stable environment where you can focus on doing meaningful, high-quality work in collaboration with a team that values integrity and excellence
