Barrack Lane Medical Centre has an opportunity for two administrators to join our practice support team and assist in the smooth delivery of excellent patient care. You will be based within our very busy Administration Team working along side coders and medical secretaries.
The role is varied and covers many administration tasks. We would welcome applications from organised, flexible, friendly and experienced individuals who are keen to help us provide high levels of patient care.
Team work is vital for the smooth running of the team so being able to work as part of a team is essential. This position is offered on afull-time basis of 37 hours a week. We require somebody to work Monday-Friday which will include one half day. Final working pattern will be discussed at interview.
Main duties of the job
* Undertaking a variety of administrative duties including the provision of secretarial and clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team.
* Data entry and read coding of relevant patient information and medical data into the clinical system.
* Helping the surgery achieve QOF targets.
* Allocating workflow for review by doctors or other health professionals.
* Processing practice post and emails.
* Registering new patients.
* Summarising new patient records.
* Actioning requests from third parties for patient information following Insurance Protocol.
* Actioning requests for Subject Access Requests.
* Covering reception, as and when required.
* Handling enquiries efficiently.

Barrack Lane is a busy practice in the town centre of Ipswich, Suffolk. We have a diverse practice population of over 20,000 patients. The practice is based on two sites, the main surgery in the centre of the town, and a branch surgery at Stoke Park.
Our clinical team is made up of GP partners, salaried GPs, advanced nurse practitioners, advanced care practitioners, paramedics, physicians associate, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and a practice nursing team and HCAs. This team is supported by a strong administrative, coding and care-navigating team.
Barrack Lane is part of a PCN (Primary Care Network) with Ivry Street Medical Centre, in Ipswich, and the two practices cover a population of 32,000 patients. The PCN allows the practices to share resources and offer an enhanced service to our patients. The PCN employs care co-ordinators and social prescribers to work with patients, especially our vulnerable patients, to help them to access the best care.

Person SpecificationQualifications
* Achieved GCSE Grade 3 in English and Maths.
Experience
* Experienced clinical coder who has worked within general practice, with excellent IT, time management and organisational skills.
* Ability to communicate effectively, working in a confidential and discreet manner.
* Ability to multi-task, work efficiently and maintain a high level of attention to detail, when under pressure.
* Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently, is essential.
* Medical terminology and secretarial qualifications are desirable but not essential.
* An understanding of QOF, CQC and GDPR.
* Willingness to learn and develop role.
* Some flexibility is required as you will sometimes need to work additional or alternative hours to cover for colleagues due to holiday/unplanned absence.
