EWN is looking for an enthusiastic and driven individual who is interested in meteorology/climate science and development to join our team as a Full Stack Developer.
The Full Stack Developer role is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining systems that support our weather forecasting, climate analysis, and data driven decision making. The position combines atmospheric science and software development to deliver scalable and innovative solutions that enable the effective use of weather and environmental data.
This role acts as a key link between our solutions and technology, ensuring reliable, efficient, and fit for purpose forecasting and analytical tools.

Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- Formal education in Computer Science/Software Development or the equivalent relevant experience.
- Full stack development experience with AWS, Python, JS
- Meteorology/Atmospheric Science interest/experience highly preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, engaging with meteorologists, scientists, and technical staff to achieve shared goals.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven capacity to analyse complex datasets and system challenges, and to develop practical, scalable solutions.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, evolving environment, adapting to changing priorities, technology updates, and operational demands.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in software development, data handling, and system optimisation.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively identify opportunities for system improvements, automation, and innovation.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high quality outcomes within deadlines.
Desired Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive experience in Python (Pandas, Xarray)
- Experience with AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, CloudFormation, RDS)
- Experience with Angular
- Understanding of data formats commonly used in meteorology (NetCDF, GRIB, HDF5, GeoTiff)
- Familiarity with APIs, data pipelines, and automation tools
- Experience with PostgreSQL & PostGIS
- Familiarity with containerisation (Docker), IaC (CloudFormation) and DevOps practices
- Experience working with high-performance computing (HPC) or large-scale scientific datasets
- Knowledge of meteorological models, forecasting systems, or numerical weather prediction (NWP)
- Experience working with statistical models
