Summary Description:
At the direction of the principal, the school-based staff development teacher (SDT) fosters development and growth of professional learning communities and facilitates job-embedded staff development. In collaboration with administrators, teachers, and other stakeholders, the SDT supports the goal of building staff capacity to meet system-wide and local school initiatives to increase student learning.

Special Requirements:
Required to attend school meetings, programs, and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by the MCEA agreement.
Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Knowledge of best practices in adult learning, teaching methods, and teaching skills and the ability to use and model them. Demonstrated ability to analyze student performance data, then formulate instructional strategies to meet student needs. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Education Training Experience:
Bachelor's degree in education, training, a specific subject, curriculum development, or a related field - Master's degree preferred. Minimum five years successful teaching experience; at least three in MCPS is desirable. A meets standard rating on the most recent teacher evaluation. Experience in presenting and modeling exemplary teaching behaviors and practices to adult learners in a variety of settings such as workshops, seminars, and college courses. Evidence of instructional leadership (e.g., team leader, resource teacher, interdisciplinary resource teacher, department chair, systemwide committees, etc.) Successful completion of Studying Skillful Teaching or Observation and Analysis of Teaching.
Certificate License:
Meets Maryland state certification requirements in an appropriate field of education.
