Mars is partnering with an organisation undergoing a significant period of change and is seeking a technically strong Financial Controller to provide support on an interim basis.
This opportunity is well suited to an experienced Financial Controller who is immediately available and seeking to commence a role prior to the new year. As the position will transition to a permanent appointment, strong performance in the interim capacity will ensure the incumbent is given full consideration for the ongoing role.
The Role:
* Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with AASB.
* Manage all statutory reporting obligations, including BAS, FBT, PAYG, payroll tax, and other regulatory filings.
* Oversee external audit processes end-to-end, ensuring timely delivery of audit requirements and continuous improvement of controls.
* Maintain and strengthen the compliance framework, ensuring adherence to relevant legislation and industry standards.
* Own the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial data.
* Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls, accounting policies, and governance procedures.
* Provide hands‑on support across finance operations, including reconciliations, journals, fixed assets, and cash flow management
* Partner with senior management to provide financial insights, forecasting support to drive business performance.
The Requirements:
* CA/CPA qualified, Ideally with Big 4 training and 5+ years in commerce.
* Strong capability in statutory reporting, technical accounting, and Australian compliance requirements.
* Hands‑on experience managing BAS, FBT, payroll tax, PAYG, and ASIC filings.
* Solid understanding of AASB/IFRS and ability to resolve technical accounting issues.
* Proven track record leading audits and strengthening internal controls.
* Strong with systems and driving process improvements.
* Confident communicator with the ability to partner effectively with senior stakeholders.
