Seeking an experienced Network Engineer to work as part of the Systems and Platforms team, to enable the delivery of the Commission's objectives and outcomes by undertaking the design, implementation, and operational support of Network services infrastructure.
Key duties and responsibilities
The Network Engineer will be responsible for, but not limited to:
* As a Network Engineer joining the Systems and Platforms team, the successful candidate will join a skilled multi-disciplinary team to develop the current and future state network architecture
* Participating in section planning for short-term tasks and contributing to strategic planning for long-term initiatives.
* Assist the transition to Cloud, and work as part of a BAU team or Agile Delivery Teams, or the System Team.
* Developing and supporting key internal and external relationships, including managing stakeholders to achieve work area and agency goals and representing the agency by promoting its interests in various forms.
* Providing accurate specialist advice, guidance, and reporting on team functional responsibilities.
* Making and communicating decisions using good judgement, expertise, and knowledge, governed by legislation, regulations, best practice principles, or relevant operating instructions and procedures.
* Perform additional responsibilities as required and directed by the relevant Director/Team Leader or delegate.
About the team
The Program is made up of three branches – the Program Management Office Branch, the Regulatory Enablement Branch, and the Technology Delivery Branch – that will work together to uplift the regulatory capability by designing, building and implementing new processes, resourcing, tools, systems and technology to successfully administer the Scheme.
Essential criteria
* Ability to research, analyse, evaluate and monitor network infrastructure to ensure networks are configured to operate at optimal performance. As well as assess and recommend improvements to network operations and integrated hardware, software, communications and operating systems
* Ability to install, configure, test, maintain and administer new and upgraded networks, including support and troubleshoot network problems and emergencies.
• Proven ability to communicate effectively whilst anticipating stakeholder needs and expectations across a geographically dispersed network.
* Demonstrated personal integrity whilst achieving results within legislative and policy parameters.
* Understanding of maintaining and operating Layer 2 networks such a Vlans, Trunks, Spanning-Tree.
* Ability to implement network topology in Microsoft Azure

Desirable criteria
* A relevant bachelor's degree or higher qualification.
* At least five years of relevant experience and/or relevant vendor certification may substitute for the formal qualification
• Experience configuring and maintaining FortiGate firewalls
* Experience configuring Dynamic Routing Protocols such as BGP, OSPF
* Experience deploying and maintaining DWDM optical networks
* Experience troubleshooting L4-7 application performance problems
• Experience maintaining DNS and DHCP network infrastructure
* Knowledge in Cloud Networking
