Your role at St John of God Geelong Hospital
You will ensure the efficient and effective management of resources and services of Health Information, facilitate the delivery of a high level of customer service, the maintenance of health record systems and health information in accordance with accreditation standards and relevant legislation.
This role will work in close partnership with the Shared Health Information Services (HIS) Centre on revenue assurance/optimization, clinical documentation improvement, and process review/development to ensure accurate data submissions and coding KPI's are met.
The Position- Lead strategic and operational planning activities related to Health Information Services (HIS) and the ongoing review of HIS systems and processes within the hospital.- Lead and manage HIS and administration caregivers, including recruitment and identification of training and development needs.- Collaborate with the Shared HIS Centre to share best practice, provide input into the development of standardised systems and processes to ensure hospital data integrity is maintained, and assist in group-wide projects where required.- Responsible for privacy of information in the health record and supervises the handling of requests for release of information for clinical, administrative, financial, insurance and legal purposes.- Work collaboratively with the Shared HIS Centre to ensure that the all health records are scanned with all the information required for coding, in accordance with SLAs.- Coordination of non-coding specific Health Fund audits and any Health Fund queries received from time to time.- Act as a Hospital leader for the Patient Admission System (PAS), Scanned Health Record (SHR) and My Health Record (MyHR) operation, maintenance and training, ensuring that each system is meeting business requirements.- Understand Health Fund contract changes and their nuances and interpret what they mean for hospital processes and the refund implications, and implement process when contracts change to ensure requirements are met.- Provide health fund contract education to clinical and administrative caregivers, as changes relate to clinical documentation and the HIS function, to ensure that that both areas understand the health fund contract requirements.
You will have a Bachelor of Health Information Management, or equivalent qualification and/or broad working experience in a health care environment. You will demonstrate managerial and supervisory skills, with an ability to nurture and develop teams and individuals.
To succeed you will have excellent knowledge of casemix funding, demonstrated experience leading teams/managing projects, as well as, well-developed conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to analyse information and data.
