We are working with a key player in Australia's critical infrastructure landscape as they look to welcome a Senior Legal Counsel to their in-house team. With assets throughout Australia, they play a vital role in Australia's logistics and trade infrastructure.
Position Overview
The Senior Legal Counsel will be responsible for providing high-quality legal and strategic advice across the business's operations and strategic initiatives. This role will see you reporting directly to the General Counsel while working closely with the broader legal team and senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Advise management and project teams on compliance, risk management, and corporate governance issues.
* Assist with due diligence.
* Provide strategic legal advice on automation projects, technology integration, and major procurement initiatives across the network.
* Assist with diverse disputes as they arise in conjuncture with external counsel and the relevant internal stakeholders.
* Serve as the primary legal contact for the preparation, negotiation, and management of agreements related to major construction, redevelopment, and infrastructure programs.
* Draft, review, and negotiate complex procurement contracts covering critical categories such as fuel, straddle automation, maintenance, IT infrastructure, vertical solutions, security, and electricity supply.
* Support the General Counsel in advising the Executive Leadership Team and Board on legal and regulatory issues impacting the business.
* Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders across operations, strategy, finance, and external advisors.
Key Skills
* 8 + years' PQE gained in a top-tier or in-house legal environment
* Strong understanding of corporate, commercial, and regulatory law is ideal
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build trust at all levels of the organisation.
* Highly organised, adaptable, and able to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously.
* Team-oriented mindset, with a collaborative and professional working style.
