Chalfont is seeking a visionary Service Design Lead for our federal government client, to set their strategic direction, ensuring high-quality design outcomes that bridge the gap between complex organisational goals and meaningful user needs.
The Role
Operating within a SAFe environment, you will lead a team of architecture and design professionals to shape opportunity and deliver results. You aren't just creating artefacts; you are driving the maturity of service design as a practice and helping teams prepare for what's coming next.
Key Responsibilities:
* Practice Leadership: Lead service design as a core capability, driving innovation and best practices that align with long-term organisational goals.
* Quality Oversight: Support the Design Reference Group to ensure all outputs comply with the Digital Service Standard and maintain our high standards for excellence.
* Strategic Collaboration: Work alongside Product Management and cross-functional teams to refine backlogs and ensure every move matters for the end user.
* Co-Creation & Ideation: Facilitate workshops and sessions to validate solutions, building genuine relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
* Artefact Mastery: Create and maintain service blueprints, journey maps, and personas that enable delivery teams to translate vision into working code.
* Continuous Improvement: Assess and refine design products to ensure they deliver measurable value and drive digital capability.
About You
We are looking for a strategic thinker who uses insight to guide good decisions. You are a human-centric leader who is transparent about challenges and ambitious about outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Proven Leadership: Several years of experience in a lead service design role, specifically developing complex artefacts in collaborative environments.
* Agile Expertise: Significant experience working within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
* Technical Proficiency: Expert-level skills in design tools such as Miro, Figma, Useberry, and Hotjar.
* Certified Professional: Relevant tertiary or professional certifications in service design.
* Dynamic Communicator: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines while remaining clear and direct.
